Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
You will never guess that this moist and delicious banana bread is gluten-free!
Who doesn’t love the smell of banana bread wafting through the kitchen? This is a recipe I pull out anytime we have bananas that are too ripe.
It’s made with a handful of pantry staples, and the result is a perfectly sweet loaf that’s soft enough to melt in your mouth but sturdy enough to hold up to a generous smear of butter (or your favorite spread).

Eat it for dessert. Eat it for breakfast. Or grab a slice as a quick snack. I won’t tell.
Gather Your Ingredients
- Bananas – these should be very very ripe. The brown, ugly ones do the trick!
- Flour – I use one of my favorite gluten-free flour blends; Bob Red Mill’s 1-1 Gluten Free Baking Flour. You don’t need to add xantham gum because it’s already in the mix.
- Butter – I almost always use salted butter because I think it adds that certain something. But feel free to use unsalted.
- Sugar – just a wee bit of sugar for sweetness, but not too much since we are adding chocolate chips.
- Chocolate Chips – I use the semi-sweet mini morsels.
- Vanilla Extract
- Eggs
